Ascent Trip ReportAs I approached the area on NM252 I found a herd of 18 goats and a dog (no people visible) outside the fence line along the highway. They seemed friendly enough. This is definitely ranch country.
Previous reports on mileage are fine but I did not see any sign indicating Quay Road 91. It appears the county line road is now QR24, but the road you want is obvious and the county line is clearly marked. Highway 89 makes a 90 degree turn to the east at the county line where the Quay road is picked up.
Quite coincidentally, there was a horse trailer with a flat tire jacked up *at* the windmill on the right mentioned in Scott Surgent's cohp.org report. There were horses in the trailer and I saw a truck leaving QR24 where it meets 89, probably heading to fix the flat tire. I was slightly nervous that he would return while I was inside the fence line but I did not see him again. I paced outside the fence line and gridded a bit inside.
