Ascent Trip Report

We took to the Whistler Village Gondola up to the lookout area. We then took the Peak Express Traverse Trail over to the base of the Peak Express Chair Lift, at which point we got on the chair lift and let it take us al the way to the top. I think I should have "Earlized" the peak! Getting off the chairlift directly to the left is a rock with a small building and radio tower which is the summit. They have it completely roped off saying "permanently closed" which we assumed only applied to ski and snowboarders so we crossed the rope and summited. If you walk around the right profile, there are 2 little 20 foot tall 3rd class gullies going up the rock preventing you from having to scramble. AWESOME views of Mount Garibaldi, Black Tusk, and many other Canadian peaks in the surrounding area. Definitely worth the $50 lift ticket and time. Tons of hiking and biking trails everywhere and a ridge with multiple peaks for peakbaggers. We spent and entire afternoon up there however it would probably only be about an hour an a half round trip from the base of the gondola to the summit and back if you are there just for the peakbagging purpose (Much longer without the gondola and lift), But I would recommend spending an entire day/afternoon hiking and chilling up at the top!
