Ascent Trip ReportThe road to the trailhead is in decent shape for a dirt road, but some amount of high clearance is helpful (Hannah's Subaru Outback made it with no problem). There were a fair number of signs along the way.
The trail was in great shape and easy to follow until about 12,200'. There it disappeared (maybe under snow?), but fortunately we found the (or maybe one of several?) trail switchbacking up the southwest slope. It worked well, and the trail was again easy to follow until the pass after the Rock of Ages pass. From there, there were numerous routes going across and up towards the southwest ridge. Once on the southwest ridge, the trail continued to the summit.
Right before the summit, the trail turns to an easy class 3 route where it drops about 50' and gains maybe 75'. |
