Ascent Trip Report

Owl's Head was everything it was made out to be. It was so long with nothing to talk about at the summit and a difficult slide to climb. The first 8 miles is pretty flat and boring. There were two bigger water crossings that we had to take our boots off and wade across. The water was fairly low, about knee to mid-thigh high. Once we turned onto Owl's Head path, things got rough and rugged. The slide is quite difficult and time-consuming, with loose rocks the whole way up and very steep. It took almost two hours just to complete the 1.1 mile climb. The trail was wet and muddy in spots which made things more time-consuming. The way down wasn't much faster as you had to be careful not to fall. The Lincoln Woods Trail is endless after a long day of hiking. I am very glad it is over and will likely never climb it again.
