Ascent Trip ReportFrom our camp below the chute leading to North Palisade, which we climbed the previous day, we elected to climb Polomonium via the south ridge. We were able to get to the ridge after several hours of cross country travel. We arrived at the south ridge, a knife edge route, and set up protection with a 70 m rope that we had packed in. We were able to get 4 people to the summit, and headed back.
It became dark long before we reached camp. It was a dark night with only starlight, and the terrain did not allow us to see very far since it was up into one sharp gully, and then down into another, climbing CL3 in the dark with only our headlamps. We were able to use our GPS to find the campsite.
A fine climb. With Jeff Fisher, Louise and Jim Wholey.
