Ascent Trip Report

3 of my girlfriends wanted to come to the Adirondacks with me to hike, but they were interested in some of the smaller peaks. I did some research and found Mount Van Hoevenburg and Mount Jo. Originally we only planned on hiking on Sat, but my friends didn't have to leave right away so we decided to hike this on Sunday. A thunderstorm came through Lake Placid around 9am, so we took our time getting ready and ate breakfast. The skies cleared so we headed to the Adirondack Loj to begin our hike. The trails were busy but it was very pretty and a great little hike up. We did a small bushwhack to a lookout place with some great views. We headed to the peak where we had great views of Heart Lake and the mountains surrounding us. We talked with the Summit Steward for a bit before heading down the long (we ascended via the short trail). It was an easy hike with great views and good times. I highly recommend this little mountain!
