Ascent Trip Report

Pretty crowded. Great weather.

Good water source at the tree line, another at about 8000ft, and a great spot at the peak just below the lookout shack.

Beyond Lunch Counter, the snow was getting slushy by 9:30/10:00am. I had assumed this would be the case so left the crampons home in favor of my Ice-Trekers -- they were perfectly sufficient for this climb. The view at the top was about the best I've seen. Mt Rainier was right there in our faces and we could also see Baker and Glacier Peak in the distance, With MtStHelens just off to the west, we could see all 5 WA State volcanoes, plus Hood, Jefferson, and Three Sisters to the south. The glissade from the summit (especially from Pikers Peak) was epic! The chute was at least 3' deep in places and was essentially a luge! We covered the 2+ miles from the summit to Lunch Counter in about 20 minutes and lost the 1700 vertical feet over about 0.75mi from Pickers Peak in under 5 minutes. (I was not perfectly calm for the whole ride -- haha...!)
