Ascent Trip ReportThe trail is well established these days and has plenty of markings along the way. There is a sign at the trailhead describing the Berryessa Peak Trail and at crucial junctions mentioned in other trip reports there are markers now (but honestly this trail is the only one used these days and you have to try really hard to make a wrong turn anywhere). The easement section suffers from a bit of erosion but otherwise there is nothing technical about this hike. It is a tough one though, and I made it harder than necessary by deciding to go in today's heat. Most of the trip up was in the shade of the ridge followed by a big cloud blocking the sun, but on the way down (and there is some elevation gain on the way back) I was boiling. I easily went through my 5 litres of water and gatorade.
Overall, very enjoyable trip with different flavors of scenery: golden hills with manzanita trees, a rocky ridgeline, shrubs in a field of black spires created by a forest fire long ago.
