Ascent Trip ReportA lovely day hike along a lesser traveled section of the PCT to reach this out of the way county high point. We saw very few hikers so close to Hood. Started early to avoid the heat; it was quite warm by the time we arrived back at the car. We picked up the PCT at Lolo Pass. Overall a soft undulating part of the trail that ultimately crept uphill slowly. You'll pass the Huckleberry Trail down to Lost Lake at around the halfway point. Around mile 7.5 you can see Buck Peak off to the right. The unmarked trail to the summit was easy to spot, and fairly well maintained. The summit trail was well planned out too, bringing you a spectacularly emerging dead-on first view of Mount Hood in the ten steps leading to the top/cliff.
