Ascent Trip ReportTook Bacona Road up from Highway 26. Found Corral Mainline with no problem. We parked to the side and walked past the closed gate. Just past the gate there was a half-decayed dead fox looking right at us, daring us to keep going. We did. We walked up to the end of the logging road, which was still several hundred feet below the summit. We bushwhacked to the top. It was heavily overgrown, very dry, and very prickly. I highly recommend doing better than we did, and wearing long pants and long sleeves. There was poison oak everywhere. The summit (and associated views) was unimpressive, though we did encounter the rustling of a big deer or elk. We encountered the remnants of a road along the top of the summit, but we couldn't tell where it went so just bushwhacked our way back down. We exited by way of Bacona CCC and Pigsah Home Road back to Scappoose-Vernonia Hwy. All in all it was quite a bit more effort than it otherwise looked to get the lowest county high point in Oregon.
