Ascent Trip ReportBusy day with lots of traffic, but not to the point of ruining the hike. Some avoidable mud still on West Ridge Trail. Few bugs which was great. My boys first time up Cardigan (and mine in the Summer).. took Mowgli's Trail over to Firescrew. A little steep coming off Cardigan, but then a great 0.5 mile walk over rock slab made extra great by amazing views back to Cardigan the entire way. Look for the white blazes and cairns (cairns easier to spot at first) coming off Cardigan. There is 1 white blaze that leads you off trail at first, but once you realize no more blazes or cairns, it is easy enough to backtrack and locate the trail again. I had read about it, made the same mistake, but was able to get back on course very easily. A great day! |
