Ascent Trip Report

My 4th high peak, and on The 4th.

Since it was a holiday and a Saturday, the parking lot at Roaring Brook was full but we found a nice spot on the road, not too far from the lot, maybe a 2 minute walk to the trailhead.

I decided to hike the Roaring Brook trail because this one seemed less traveled then the shorter main trail to the summit (although they do merge at 0.7 miles to the summit). Even on a holiday weekend, we only saw a few people until we merged with the main trail. Then it was packed with people all the way to the summit, which was also packed. We did not linger at the top because it was crowded and people were still filing in. Also, visibility wasn't great. on the hike down, it began to rain so we jogged the last mile of the trail.

All in all, a beautiful trail. Try it on a weekday.
