Ascent Trip Report

Last hike on a 2 week road trip that took us through New Brunswick's highest mountains and beautiful coastal regions and back through Maine's Baxter State Park. After overnighting near Sugarloaf in western Maine, we crossed the border back into Quebec and were very soon in Mont-Mégantic National Park. We were a bit tired from hiking Sugarloaf yesterday, but it was too close to drive by without stopping. Since we hadn't been on Mont Saint-Joseph before, we decided to drive up the road and from the chapel parking hike the Promenade Boréale trail. We hiked to Mont Victoria and back. The belvedere (observation platform) in the middle had quite nice views, and so did the chapel area. Total ascent/descent about 100 m probably, trails pretty smooth for the most part. Nice way to finish the trip. Stopped in Bromont for lunch and went home to Montreal, luckily avoiding too much traffic.
