Ascent of Mount Independence on 2015-07-04
|Others in Party:||Josef Nuernberger|
|Date:||Saturday, July 4, 2015|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Motorized Transport to Trailhead:||4x4 Vehicle|
| Elevation:||9950 ft / 3032 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe road to the trailhead was challenging to find (many roads on the topo and/or Google Maps did not exist, and there were newer roads that were not on the map. The bottom line is if you start from the junction on the west side of the City of Rocks and head north, and keep to the better road, you should get there.
From the trailhead, there's a good trail to the pass between Mount Independence and Cache Peak. From there, it's an easy class 2 hike over a few boulder short boulder fields to the summit.
From there, we headed over to Cache Peak.
