|Date:||Sunday, June 28, 2015|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||10781 ft / 3286 m|
Ascent Trip ReportHot weekend. Was probably 80+ lowlands, 57 forecast for the glacier. Windy on the upper 300'. Heliotrope Ridge is in full bloom - lupine, paintbrush..
Camped at 5700' near lots of running streams. Errant snow patches; mostly dirt. Camps as far as the eye could see - we were the 63rd climbing party to register on Saturday. Some folks were camped at Black Buttes and above. There is a new bridge being built (awesome), and three manageable stream crossings. The log crossing that I had remembered from 2012 near the TH was no longer there or an issue.
Woke up 2200 as the sun was setting and the moon was appearing. It was incredibly warm - t-shirt weather.
Left camp 2245, summitted 0515 just as the sun was starting to crest to the summit. Roman Wall slope was mushy. Lots of cracks in the football field. Lots of groups had the same idea to summit early. The snow bridge being used the previous day at the 9000' saddle had collapsed. Two workarounds were found, but one was a snow bridge between two large crevasses and one was a wedged between a crevasse and a bergschrund - both will not last too much longer.
Left summit at 0600, camp at 0900, napped until 1130 and weather started rolling in, left camp 1230 and returned to cars at 1412.
