Ascent Trip ReportStarted by taking the Clipper Ship Quad chair to the top of the South Peak Beginners area. Going to our left, we got onto the trail that skirts the Disc Golf area, following the Blue Arrows. When we got the Summit Trail, rather then heading back to the parking area/lodges, we decided to head for the summit. We got yelled at by a woodpecker for being to close to its nest, the trail happened got go 3/4th of the way around the tree it had its nest in. Great views of the surrounding area from the summit. Lots of butterflies and saw a few dragonflies as well. Because of the time, rather than return on the Summit Trail or take the Solitude Trail and Rim Trail, we decided to take the road down, which in the winter time would be Stovepipe and Williamson Ski Trails. The Williamson Trail comes out at the Sunbowl Express Quad, we continued to follow the road, walking passed the campground and at the bottom the maintenance buildings into the extra parking for ski season. We went passed the Spruce Lodge and back to the main parking area. We rewarded ourselves with ice cream at Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice Cream, about 4 miles North of the entrance to Mount Sunapee Resort.
