Ascent Trip Report

Still recovering from Mount Shasta the day before I was not looking for gratuitous hiking on the 5 mile trail. I followed the way told to me by Mike and Scott (ascent 11/14). I was using google maps on my phone with Lola north gps coordinates plugged in as my destination. Mike and Scott told me to follow Henness Rd west before crossing Cold stream turn South on the un-named Rd that goes to Cold stream meadow. High clearance is a must from this point on! Shortly before reaching the collapsed wooden bridge, was a fallen tree that had the narrowest gap cleared for passage. With my wide vehicle I had only a cat's whisker on either side for clearance. I heeded Scott and Mike's advise and got my 4 tires lined up with the wooden planks and crossed the collapsed bridge. Use your own judgment here but it held up my Expedition. From here google maps shows the road making a Christmas tree shaped loop toward Mt Lola north. A fallen tree blocks the south half of the loop. I did not make it far on the north half of the loop before reaching a fallen tree.
From there I road hiked trying to follow the blue line on google. The road became hard to discern in places. Just a few feet south of the absolute highest point (google’s destination) on this loop I placed a rock pile. Head southwest, uphill, toward Mt Lola north. You can follow my stacked rocks or just gain the rocky ridge. Avoid wasting time on the first three small rocky points you see. The register is in the black water bottle. I wedged a tree limb in rocks to make the point more distinctive. From here I went south to bag Mt Lola.
