Ascent Trip ReportThe road is the crux for this hike. I found two approaches- Blue Rock Canyon and Haggerty Wash. I drove in via Blue Rock Canyon - that road is easy to find and follow (matches what's on the topo map) but is the more challenging drive (one wash crossing was impassible by my Xterra, but we found a way to cross a little north of the road). I drove out via Haggerty Wash and that wasn't too tough (other than one steep hill) but it was challenging to navigate as it diverted from the topo map numerous times to go around private land holdings.
After getting to the pass at 8155', we headed up the secondary ridge to the ridge heading south from Adams Benchmark. The terrain was great- mostly soft ground, and trees for shade, but no bushwhacking. Spectacular views from the summit |
