Ascent Trip Report

Had the only altitude sickness of my life at a "mere" 10k' night before peak attempt. Nausea & lethargy cooking chicken.

A landslide heard off the peak after dark sounded big and close to the far side of the lake. It sent us back to our campsite from the lake edge for fear of a big wave and/or dust. Before dark we had seen a tent set up on the far side of the lake and worried, but nothing happened to us or them.

A late start and afternoon thunderstorms sent Rob & I back down from our peak attempt where we had just encountered the lower part of the landslide. It was a boulder filled slope with many small rock shards scattered around. The only shelter from sharp flying rock shrapnel during the slide would have been to climb down into the spaces between boulders. During a landslide! That would have been scary. But none of the boulders had moved.
