Ascent Trip ReportStarting at Platte Cove Rd. Parking Lot, up Blue trail. Once you hit the split to Huckleberry Mt. bear left and be on the look out for a faint Mohawk Indian herds trail. Down the trail you will see an old Indian campsite, from there a short trail goes up a hill and from here we bushwhacked approx. 500 ft at 330 degrees. Eventually you will hit the snowmobile trail loop (marked red primarily) and go the north route around the trail. This is because the north entrance is less steep then the south entrance, which we exited from. Hurricane Ledge, on the way down the south end of the peak, is perhaps one of the best views in the Catskills, which a clear view of the entire Devil's Path as well as Kaaterskill Creek to the East. |
