Ascent Trip Report

Started at Mt. Washington Road just north of the AMC parking.
We walked up the road and made a left just after the state line marker to find the Mt. Frissell trail. It was easy to follow the red blazes from start to finish. From the trailhead you walk a short distance then begin a steep climb to the peak of Round Mountain. Great views here. From Round Mountain you descend some before climbing again and summitting Mt. Frissell.
From the summit you descend for maybe 5 minutes before reaching the CT state high point on the south slope. This is marked by a giant cairn and stake marking the state line between CT and MA. From here we retraced our footsteps back out to where we started.

One recommendation I would make: Don't use google maps to get here. It gives you a route that takes you through CT, into NY and MA and back into CT. I thought this was completely assinine. It's much easier to head into Salisbury, CT and drive up Mt. Riga Rd. to Mt. Washington Rd. Plenty of parking on a beautiful Saturday.
