Ascent Trip Report***Private Outing***
Tanya, Maya and I headed up Echo Mtn via Rubio Cyn, then on to Inspiration Point. From Inspiration we headed first west to get Muir Peak, then headed east to get Peak 4668 and on to Mt Muir. We hiked the XC ridge from Pk 4668 to Mt Muir rather than drop back down to the road. On the return from Mt Muir we headed down as if we were going to the Lake Ave TH, but instead took a turn to the east onto a nicely maintained trail down into Rubio Canyon where the power lines cross the Lake Ave trail at three power line towers.
Total of 5 hours to get to the summit of Mt Muir (our last summit of the day) from the trailhead at Rubio Canyon; 2 hours 10 minutes to get back down to the car from Mt Muir. Total mileage = 8.1 miles, 3200' gain
TH to Echo Mtn (via Rubio Cyn): 1 hour, 20 minutes
Echo Mtn to Inspiration Point: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Inspiration Point to Muir Peak: 10 minutes
Muir Peak to Peak 4668: 20 minutes
Peak 4668 to Muir Mtn (via ridgeline): 40 minutes
Mt Muir to Rubio Cyn TH: 2 hours, 10 minutes |
