Ascent Trip ReportParked at Underhill State Park.
Walked from the parking area to Eagle Cut Trail and CCC Road until we arrived at the trailhead of the Sunset Ridge Trail.
Climbed the Sunset Ridge Trail until it ended at the Long Trail and hiked this to the summit (The Chin).
The park was pretty crowded, as it was Memorial Day weekend. The weather was pleasant with drizzle from time to time. The wind really picked up near the top and at the summit it was very windy.
Our descent took the same route. It was quicker than the ascent and pretty uneventful.
Views at and near the summit are fantastic. Overall, this is a great day hike. I'd love to check out the alternate routes to the summit one day. |
