Ascent Trip Report

I followed the "main" northeast-trending ridge to the top. There are some forest roads that get in close to the base. I walked one to its end, then followed a trail (? ... it looked like a ditch) to a highpoint, and from here, about 800 more vertical feet to the top. The slopes are steep and forested, but open and with little under-brush. I marked my path with sticks so I wouldn't take a wrong bearing coming down.

The previous day, the area was hit by thunderstorm cells that dropped a lot of hail, collecting to about an inch deep most everywhere. For my hike, the day was very overcast and cold (about 45 F, or 7 C). The trees were shedding their hail and ice as I hiked, providing some free rain. Very odd for late May.
