Ascent Trip Report

A bike ride on Lopez Island is always enjoyable & even better if you can get a peak in, though it may be quite modest.
Its about 13.5 miles of biking to the trailhead for Watmough Bay then a short walk to the beach. Chadwick is impressive from the bay where it rises almost vertically from the water. The trail to the top starts behind the logs & was hard to spot being overgrown with grass. Follow the trail through the woods to a split where its noted that you are leaving public land. Head up & you will some see a sign that you are once again on public property. There is a bit of easy scrambling up a couple of rocky areas lower down then easier trail & breaks in the trees for views higher up. The summit isn't much, several high points in open woods. For the best views head west to cliff edges where you can see straight down to Watmough Bay below. Beautiful area & great though short hike.
