Well, you didn't get great views up here (or from Sugarloaf, which I did on the way up). You glimpsed the river, but some brilliant decision was made to level the trees so you could get a view of nothing, rather than the Uwharrie Mountains, National Forest, and Peedee and Yadkin Rivers. Nice.
I did have a great nap on the summit, soaking up the sun on a picnic table, because, oh yeah, I decided since I had trouble falling asleep i'd just leave at 5am to make the 2 hour drive here despite having to work at 4pm. But hey, it worked out, I had a great drive, I hiked a couple "mountains" I escaped Fayetteville, and I stopped at a really fantastic diner with really inexpensive food, women behind the counter and old men wearing feed store hats drinking bad coffee - just as it should be. |
