Ascent Trip ReportMy first "county" high point summited. Ever. (Actually, all state HP's are also county HP's, so this is not true. What I mean is the first county HP attempt since I adopted summiting them as a goal). I scouted out the area by car, looking for a place to park, and could not at first find somewhere I was comfortable with. I wound up parking at the old church right on the corner, and hopping the stone wall at the edge of its property next to the cemetary to begin my ascent. It appeared every other approach was on private property. At least there were not any No tresspassing signs! Anyhow after a short, climbing bushwhack, I located a trail of sorts at the "ridge". I folowed this SSE for a bit, came upon an old (I hope) dumping area that really needs to be cleaned up - what a disgrace. I then bushwhacked some more until i was close to the coordinates listed on this site - then looked for the highest "mound" around, and stood on it. Yea. I was a bit off with my GPS compared to the coordinates listed. I must learn more about my equipment and also how precise the coordinates are.
