Ascent Trip Report

Climbed with BLM. Approach was via Dry Brook Trail from Beaverkill PA. Took Drybrook trail from Beaverkill PA to first junction with BLM trail (.9). Went up north to summit and fire tower. Streneous but short (another .9) climb. Hardest part was getting to the trailhead itself, not a blood pumping hike! Very scenic from firetower, well worth going up. Beautiful little area on summit of fir trees, I regret not taking any pictures of it as I walked through. Alot of wildlife on summit - saw many tracks and heard snowshoe hares, deer, turkey and many species of birds. No bear tracks on summit but many on dry brook. Talked to a hunter on south side down BLM, was very friendly. First hunter i actually saw all winter, heard alot of gun activity earlier in the morning to the southeast in the distance though. Didnt immediately find the graham herd path, was hard to see with the snow, not alot of activity. Found it on way back after walking the entire path to millbrook trailhead! Was only .1 mi from second junction with BLM on the right. Went to summit, very scenic, rough getting there tho. Branches snapped my in eye, was blind for about 20 mins. Weather was great, a little cold (30F) but warm the entire time hiking (polyester tee, wool midlayer, polartec fleece outer, no thermals, thin hiking pants). No crampons or snowshoes needed for drybrook trail, gaiters and crampons useful on graham and BLM ascent(6? inches snow), lots of ice on BLM north ascent especially around spring half .5mi up. Did about 10mi total between BLM, graham + going down and back up from millbrook trailhead.
