Ascent Trip ReportI met Michael Williamson at Green Lake for the ride down the night before. We took the Worm Flows winter route. Snow started quite high for the time of year, around 5,900'. 40mph winds started at 7,000' where conditions became more seasonal. They threatened to blow me over with a snowboard on my back. As a result the final 200' were a slog. The rim has good views and I can see why most don't go to the summit. The traverse from the crater rim to the true summit was lonely despite all the skiers and snowboarders. The wind was dead calm at a low point in the crater rim. Some blue ice under an inch of fresh powder spiced it up a bit. Cornices are not even close to normal size. Beautiful day and perfect snow for snowboarding back down. Got a little off route on my return but corrected it before my partner was too concerned. Hike out was pleasant but unseasonably warm.
