Ascent Trip Report

Drove to Chestnut Mountain Road, which is where the Chestnut shooting range is located, and continued past the range (shots firing every second), and drove up the gravel forest road. The road reaches a junction at one point and is labeled 212 FR for the Chattahoochee National Forest service road. Parked at the junction, and walked the service road. I would have kept driving, but we were low on gas, and decided it might be a nice walk anyway. Continued about 2km down the road until it dead-ended. Walking to this dead-end passes the summit of Mill Creek Mountain and highpoint of Whitfield County. It is located on a short bushwhack from this forest road. Not great views from this summit since it's mostly wooded. Descended down the more steep slope for a more direct path down to the road. Forgot to start my GPS, but I am confident I navigated to the spot.
