Ascent Trip ReportI did Cardigan via the West Ridge Trail. The road to the trailhead was closed for the season so I parked at the entrance and hiked up to the trail. There were three other cars there and it was partly cloudy when I started. For the most part the trail was well broken all the way to the rocky summit, so my micro spikes were sufficient. It was a clear sunny day by the time I reached the top and ran into about a dozen other hikers including a group of children. Clear views in every direction on top including Camel's Hump and Mansfield in Vermont to the West and Northwest.
On the descent, I slid down on my butt in a few spots. 2 hours up, 1 hour down to the car. Spectacular day on Cardigan. |
