Ascent Trip Report

We decided to spend 2 additional days in the Organ Mountains rock climbing. Using "Rock Climbing New Mexico" we found suitable objectives. The first day would be "The Citadel" from Mine House Spring. The approach hike is beautiful as it goes up a flowing stream in the canyon. We ended up off route and Duane led a 5.9 pitch which took longer that the intended 5.6 route. I followed and cleaned his lead. Sam could not get up it, so we bailed. Good climb and a real confidence booster for Duane, leading a 5.9! Pics
