Ascent Trip Report

Catamount Hill – I had my final “short” Friday at work and decided I wanted to try a little off-road. I had originally hoped to scout out Mt Kearsarge but I wasn’t sure I wanted to put my foot through that much up/down so I chose a scenic run in Bear Brook State Park. The snowmobile trails within the park were packed out firmly and at that time of day not many were out on the trails (just 3 cars in the lot when I left). I got in a nice out/back run on the trail for 5 miles then added on the ½ mile up/down Catamount Hill. There are some nice views from the top and I’ve got fond memories of this hill. On this cold but sunny day the view was sweet and the trail was packed out well. I took it slow going up and even slower going down. It was nice to finally get in some off-road running even if it wasn’t snowshoe running (I wore Kahtoolahs).

It was kind of funny to see that I’m the 2015 King of the Hill on Strava for Catamount. There are some fast guys with very quick times, but I think I’m the first to run up this year.
