Ascent Trip ReportNanette, Alicia and I got to the TH around 11:30, and started with microspikes, as the approach trail was pretty well-packed. However, as soon as we split right to stay on red, the broken up snow with an ice layer forced us into our snowshoes. It was slow going, even though the trail was semi-broken, due to the frozen top layer making it hard to slide the shoes through. At the trail junction, we met a group of 8 from the AMC, and made our way up to the summit over a much-easier, well-broken yellow trail. The descent had a few solid butt-slide opportunities, which I took full advantage of. We started with blue skies, and it turned to light snow flurries and a big drop in temperature by the final half-mile. The final winter-required ascent for us!
