Ascent Trip ReportFrom Hargill Bridge where there is room for a couple of cars on the verge. Given the conditions it's fortunate that a shooters track leads more or less directly up to the summit plateau from where it's a straight trudge across trackless heather moorland to the summit. Itself idiosyncratically marked by two wooden posts, one short, one tall, each with an upturned wellington boot on it. Rested for a short while in the shooters hut (unlocked and rather splendid with doubled glazed windows) on the way down to eat my lunch.
A life-enhancing rather than a strictly enjoyable outing in the North Pennines. Part of a two two-thousander trip in semi-blizzard conditions but with a short drive between the two to warm up. How I wish I'd brought my ski-goggles, spindrift hurts and it's difficult to see through ice-encrusted glasses.
