Ascent Trip Report

A xcountry walk from US79 .... .5 miles, 15 minutes RT.

From the village of Olney, intersection of TX114/TX79, we went north on 79 for 3.2 miles to a farm entrance on the left (just past Hilton Road on the right). We parked just inside the entrance. I walked north 250 yards to an old corral, hopped a N-S fence line and walked/stomped the grass field 150 yards to the west, nothing obvious.

The actual high ground of the area is to the northeast and is forested with a Wind Farm. This Triple Divide Point, one of four in the State of Texas, is located in Archer county.

"ARCHER COUNTY WAS FORMED IN 1858 FROM FANNIN COUNTY AND IS NAMED FOR BRANCH TANNER ARCHER, A COMMISSIONER FOR THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS. AS OF THE 2010 CENSUS ITS POPULATION WAS 9054."
