Ascent Trip ReportReid Headwall
Bivy'd at Illumination Saddle. Skinned up to Illumination Saddle. Descent Old Chute. Ski down from saddle.
Golf ball ice fall throughout headwall climb, but overall the towers seemed pretty stable. Summited at 11:00AM. Ice was good for the pons and tools, but did not take screws well. Bring 3-4 pickets and simul as much as possible. One medium ice fall early morning 7:00AM off to the side of the headwall. Saw skiers on Leuthold Couloir. Shrund was in good condition, walk across on left. Generally followed Summit Post account of the route (good beta). |
