Ascent Trip Report

From the end of the 4WD road, I took a sight on Graham Peak and walked in a direct line across the flat and up the first hill in sight. Crossing over, I angled left toward a saddle at the head of the draw and went across it to the main ridge leading up toward the summit. The going was easy, just hiking around the outcrops. Taking a break at about 6,700 feet, I looked toward the summit and couldn't see an obvious route to the top. Nothing to do but keep going; and sure enough, there was a way around the big cliff face at the head of the ridge--steep gullies and paths hugging the walls. All in all, a VERY pleasing climb. Big black cumulus clouds were soaring close overhead, but only a dozen drops of rain fell. The log is in good shape, though apparently not many climbers think of coming to this mountain range, with its barren peaks and gnarly formations.
