Ascent Trip ReportKelley and I climbed Ode Benchmark, Kay Benchmark, Sirens Peak, San Ysidro Mountain-East Peak, Tuck Benchmark, Webo Benchmark, and Ted Benchmark, in that order, via a loop over 2 ridges and through Hellhole Flat, starting and ending at the Hellhole Canyon trailhead. The most difficult section of the route started about 500' in elevation below Kay Benchmark and extended to Sirens Peak, which took us over 2 hours to navigate. The San Ysidro Mountain-East Peak summit register, and apparent high point, is located at a big boulder about 500' east of the high point shown on the Peakbagger.com topo map. We left the truck at 6:00 a.m. and returned to the truck at 9:30 p.m., the last 3.5 hours using head lamps. Also, this trip report includes stats for all of the peaks climbed. Please see my 02-01-2015 San Ysidro Mountain-East Peak trip report for trips stats. |
