Ascent Trip ReportHeaded out to do both Anthony's Peak and Black Butte. Followed Suttle's directions to Anthony's Peak, and they were great. The roads were pretty good and our SUV had no problem since it hasn't rained in over a month. Made it to the campgrounds and then intended to drive up to the fire lookout. Got about halfway and then ran into a large patch of thick ice. rather than risk getting stuck, we parked and walked about 1/2 mile up to the peak. Took a couple of pictures on the lookout and then walked backed down. Had to make it quick since we wanted to get Black Butte on the way back. Only saw two vehicles the entire day! |
