Ascent Trip Report

A fun attempt with Josh Lewis, Matt Solimski and Taras. Fresh snow on the upper mountain meant breaking trail on the glaciers. Half a mile in, one of our team had to retreat due to fatigue. It was neat breaking trail across the Cowlitz but at cathedral gap snow was starting to pinwheel. Matt took over and sped through this section. We turned around when we noticed poor cohesion of snow layers and our progress became ridiculously slow in the waist deep snow at about 11,000'. Watching skiers and snowboarders on the way down made me wish I could do that. I will return.
