Ascent Trip Report

Dan and I hiked out to the rocky summit area. It appears to be a technical climb. We attempted to climb up a boulder filled gully, but were stymied after about 50 ft. It was still at least 200 ft to the highest point. Even if we were successful in climbing up the gully, I doubt whether we could have found a route up the final 50 ft. Big granite boulders dominate the high point. Beautiful area with great rock formations. Come prepared with ropes, rock shoes, protection, slings, and good rock skills.

We parked at the point where the road forks with the right fork going towards Blue Angel and the left fork towards the Elliot Mine. As we were hiking back up the road we passed a 2WD van that had caught fire under the dash and the couple were trying to fix it. This is a very rough road....
