Ascent Trip ReportParked at Sunset Field. Walked old road paralleling the Blue Ridge Parkway to a clearing, then followed a trail roughly southward to a second clearing. From there, bushwhacked more or less directly up north ridge to summit. Beautiful day, with cool air and good visibility. Visibility would be limited in summer since summit area is tree-covered. Found a red/orange-blazed trail along the way (maintained by ?), as well as a tepee made of sticks and some abandoned buildings that were possibly once parts of the Air Force facility on Apple Orchard Mountain.
