Ascent Trip ReportStarted from the Barnhardt Trailhead on the Barnhardt Trail. Was looking for a way to Suicide Ridge, but with the trail under 30+ cm of snow, did not find any. Barnhardt trail petered out in a flat basin, and from there my buddy Thomas and I trudged through snow and manzanita and deadfall from a fire to a ridge, and then trudged along that ridge to the summit. We summited quite late-- 4:30 pm. The descent route to the Y-Bar Trail looked very bad with 20 cm of snow (even though as a South Face it had less snow), so we had to find another descent route. From there we followed Suicide Ridge down, and went down the East Face of the range to the Barnhardt TH in the dark. A very long day. 17.7 km total. |
