Ascent Trip ReportFull trip report:
Parked at the end of Moose Mountain Road and hiked down woodman hill road. It was packed snow and easy going. After a couple miles you come across the trail head on your left with a stand and maps (they were out of maps) and the trail from here on is a foot path. We took this up to Copple Crown peak. It was very windy and cold on the summit which is a little exposed.
From here I pulled out the GPS on my phone and we started bushwhacking to try and find the CoHP. There is a very active moose in these parts as we came across a ton of tracks and dozens of “droppings”, I was just hoping not to run into him in his home! We did some zig-zagging but crossed the cords for the CoHP and made our way back up. We got off track on the way back a bit and actually came back up over Copple Crown summit to get back to actual trail.
From here we started heading down but took the detour to the east peak which was a simple walk. Back down the same way we came up. Was a bit longer than expected but a nice hike and we saw no one else. I did forget my micro-spikes which was a tad annoying on the decent as I slipped a lot but no injuries!
