Ascent Trip ReportDrove to parking lot near top. Hiked around the monuments and read signs. Hiked down the cleared battlefield and crossed a creek. Took an unmarked unmaintained trail along the creek until it met up with another trail and then followed it west to the main road and then followed that trail part way up to the "farm trail" crossed the road again and circled back on the ambush trail crossing the creek again and then back up the battlefield. Read the monument for the fallen Illinois troops. Actual highpoint is unnatural raised ground for the troops to hide along the ditches. This hill was the main battle. Secondary battle was at Little Kennesaw; and thirdly at Pigeon Hill.
Impressive battle front in size. This hill has little on the way of "peakbagging" but was a very pleasant hike through some interesting history.
