Ascent Trip Report

Parked at the former church shown on USGS map. Although the church has been cleared and now only the parking exists, my phone actually gave me directions to "mountain springs church." Then, I walked down the clay road and found the little creek running along the West side at elevation 700 and tagged the creek as my trailhead, then walked back up to the intersection, took a left, and headed West up the sometimes steep maintenance road to find the easy highpoint. The tower foundation is now all that stands. In the place of the old fire tower is a bunch of radio towers. The second tower beyond the HP is gated secure. Some views from the road in both directions. Nice for a southeastern state - by no means a view like out West but in the SE states you get excited about any view at all.
