Ascent Trip ReportGot off Interstate 8 and put into my car GPS the exact high point long / lat coordinates (missed success at this high point about 10 years ago - better prepared this time). With this and other instructions from this very site, was lead up a road that my Grand Cherokee in the "off-road 2" setting as well as in 4x4 low barely made stopping 1 / 2 mile from the summit - the bottom of the road had strange stretches of pavement (maybe for the radio towers off to the right).
So after a couple of times after my sister got out of the car because she was scared of the rough but passible road, got to a place to park. Parked and walked towards the highest of several high looking points (the one farthest North being the highest). There was a off-and-on path with some litter from visitors from Mexico. Towards the top went thru some cactus and brambles, we moderately easily scrambled to the highest point.
Took us about 90 minutes there and back with some great views of wind turbines. Did not see any Border Agents.
After the trip (earlier in the day bagged the San Diego highpoint) went to Campo, to the Southern terminus of the Pacific Crest Trail as high fall hit us -- there we saw Border Agents.
