Ascent Trip ReportThis trip included the entire Francoinia Ridge. We began our trip at the Liberty springs trail head and summitted liberty. We then traversed down to Flume. From there we traversed the entire ridge ending at Lafayette, and descended the old Bridle Path. For totals on this trip, see all for mountains report.
By this point, Shadow and I were really beginning to show fatigue. we had been climbing since 0500 and were getting tired. The interesting this about this trip is that we had been hop scotching with other hikers all the way up the mountain and each of them had been commenting on how impressed they were with an 8 year old little girls handling these mountains with such class and ease.
When we summitted Lafayette it was a dramatic and exciting conclusion to an amazing day. As we were climbing the summit cone, Shadow was incredibly tired. I climbed behind her urging her on with "You can do it!" Like the little engine that could she kept repeating "I know I can, I know I can do this!" When we finally crested the summit, All the hikers we had hopscotched with all day were at the top and broke out into applause for my daughter and hiking partner Shadow! What a PROUD Daddy moment!
