Ascent Trip Report

In addition to Palm Mesa High Point, we climbed Pike Benchmark and Cody Benchmark, which are on the San Diego Sierra Club list, as well as Phil Benchmark and Pike Benchmark Summit. Our group climbed Pike Benchmark on the way out to Palm Mesa, which saved about 500' of elevation gain. Total stats according the GPS: 10.4 miles, 4,790' of elevation gain and about 9.5 hours.

Access to the peaks is from the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. Also, we car camped at the campground located on the reservation, which cost $25.00 per night and has piped in water and port-a-potties. The campground is located in a scenic valley with huge oak and pine trees for shade. Also, we were the only ones there over Thanksgiving weekend.
